The first fund raising event held by the James Barney foundation was hosted on the 7th of March, 2011 at the offices of Wilson & Co. Accountancy in Leeds. A group of experienced fund raisers and philanthropists were invited to discuss the promising future of the charity and to come up with ideas to help benefit the lives of others.
Money was raised by selling tickets to the dinner and through a silent auction. Sports memorabilia, holidays and photographs were but some of the things generously donated to the evening and we were able to raise in excess of £8,000.
Our deepest thanks must be extended to all of those who were able to attend, donate and provide sage advice as to how to raise the awareness and profile of the charity. Without our supporters, especially those who have been with us since the beginning, there would be no charity and we would not be able continue the work that we are so passionate about.
